Fewer ships but more passengers are expected to arrive at the Port of Stockholm this year compared to last year.

Last year, 206 ships arrived and this year the number is estimated to be 130, reports SVT Nyheter.

One reason for the decrease in the number of cruise ships is the pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which has meant that the port of St. Petersburg, which is an important destination for mainly American tourists, remains closed.

However, the boats arriving with destination Stockholm have better occupancy than before, which means 20 percent more passengers this year despite fewer boats.
