More paper and trees after Christmas – join us for a ride in the garbage truck

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Stefan empties up to 1,000 barrels per trip he drives. He emptied around four tons of rubbish after today’s tour, which took him through, among other places, Flurkmark and Hissjö.

According to him, the best thing about driving a garbage truck is being out in the countryside.

– I am not trapped anywhere, he says.

Being invited for coffee

The garbage trucks run daily, even on public holidays. Before Christmas, Stefan Jones was invited to, among other things, coffee and buns.

– 99 percent of people are happy when you come to pick up the garbage, he says.

The first time he had a food bag in a bin, he was annoyed as he thought it was rubbish. But inside there were cookies.

Found a moose in a barrel

Stefan Jones discovers many things that really shouldn’t be thrown away in normal household waste.

– The sickest thing I found was a moose, he says. As the bin was so heavy, the emptying went sideways and the moose ended up on the roof of the garbage truck.

Christmas trees go to recycling

Now after Christmas, more paper packaging ends up in the garbage. Another problem is also Christmas trees.

– Then there will be a stop, says Stefan Jones and believes that the machine cannot compress the garbage properly anymore.

According to him, Christmas trees should be thrown away at the recycling station.

In the clip, you get to join the driver’s cab on a trip with the garbage truck.
