Robbie Coltrane’s death was a loss for any film fan, but especially for the Harry Potter community. The Hagrid actor played his character with incredible warmth and extreme acting sensitivity. As Felton wrote in an article for E! News writes was the Ditch between child actors and veteran actors sometimes difficult to bridge in the early Harry Potter days. Except for Coltrane. Felton says adults have shown him respect for his wealth of experience in everything from engineering to geography. But he was also loved by the children.

He had more nonsense on his mind than a room full of Slytherins. He could fool around with all of us. [Robbie Coltrane] had the brain of an adult but the heart of a child. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t professional. […] We learned our craft by watching him.

Many of his Harry Potter peers commemorated the Scottish actor after his death. Coltrane was an acclaimed actor long before his Harry Potter role, appearing in the James Bond series and the comedy series Blackadder, among others.
