The Brics economic cooperation organization should grow and include several countries. The appeal comes from China’s leader Xi Jinping in connection with the meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In his speech, Xi Jinping highlighted that one should look at how the current five member states can become significantly more in the future.

– I am happy to see the enthusiasm from developing countries to participate in Brics, said the Chinese leader, among other things.

Currently, the organization consists of, in addition to China, Russia, India, Brazil and the host South Africa. About 20 countries are said to have shown interest in joining, among them Saudi Arabia, Indonesia as well as Egypt.

Even India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed that he also wants the organization to grow in membership.
