In the Netherlands, fireworks are divided into four categories:
Category F1: fireworks with very little danger (e.g. sparklers and bang peas).
Category F2: fireworks with little danger (e.g. firecrackers and flares).
Category F3: medium hazard fireworks (e.g. firecrackers with flash powder and flares with more than 75 grams of gunpowder).
Category F4: fireworks which pose a great deal of danger and which are intended for professional use only (e.g. mortars).
Since 2020 there has been a national ban on fireworks in the category F3, bang fireworks, bang strands, flares and single-shot tubes.
