The province of Utrecht has a relatively large number of organic farms with about 6 percent (134 companies), but Flevoland takes the cake with more than 15 percent. In absolute numbers, most organic farms are located in North Brabant and Gelderland. According to Statistics Netherlands, 3.8 percent of Dutch farms is now organic, compared to 2.1 percent in 2015. More than a quarter of all organic farms this year are dairy farms, just like seven years earlier. Another more than a quarter is an arable or horticultural company.
