More and more cases of flu, many elderly people are affected

In some hospitals, the special elderly wards are full, says Esther Cornegé-Blokland, chair of the Dutch Association for Clinical Geriatrics (NVKG). In the Utrecht Diakonessenhuis, for example, the largest elderly ward in the province is full of patients with flu complaints. Also, if they are slightly better, they cannot move on to rehabilitation or a nursing home, because there are also many sick people there. “It gets stuck there.”
