More admitted to the university this spring

The number of people who have been admitted to higher education programs in the spring of 2024 has increased by four percent compared to the spring of 2023, the University and Higher Education Council announces in a press release.

In the first selection for the spring semester, 38 universities and colleges accepted 204,286 applicants, compared to 195,886 a year ago. The number of eligible applicants has also increased, to 245,127 from 235,088.

A total of 111,181 people are reserved

The gender distribution is unchanged – two-thirds of both qualified and accepted applicants are women.

29 higher education institutions are admitting more students in the spring of 2024 compared to last spring, and 16 of them have increased their enrollment by more than ten percent.

Among the institutions of higher learning that increase the number of admitted students the most are Högskolan Väst (76.4 percent), Högskolan i Borås (57.3 percent), Royal Institute of Technology (32.8 percent) and Linköping University (22.6 percent).
