The Åmsele killer Nikita Bergenström, 57, formerly Juha Valjakkala, is dead. This is reported by the Finnish media.
Bergenström was sentenced in 1989 to life imprisonment for the murder of three people in the same family which was committed in a cemetery in Åmsele in Västerbotten in 1988. His girlfriend at the time was sentenced to two years in prison for aiding and abetting and aggravated assault.
He served his sentence in Finland and was released on parole in 2009, but has since been sentenced to several lighter sentences. He has also escaped from prison several times.
The cause of death is not known.
