Monumental and Powerful this film has stunned criticism it is

It is possible to discover this week at the cinema one of the films which has marked criticism and which is already imposed as a must of the year 2025.

Some already compare it to Godfather From Francis Ford Coppola, others predict that he will impose himself as one of the classics of American cinema in the coming years … Few films that make such a strong impression with the press. But after winning three Golden Globes in January, the silver lion at the Venice Mostra in September, and ten Oscar nominations, this feature film in theaters this week is already a must of the year.

The criticism that was able to discover this film on the occasion of its projections in the festival is also impressed: it is a “monumental” fresco for Les Echos, “powerful” for first, “human, historical and political” for CINEMATEAser. We have also seen it when it comes out, and we can already warn you: it is a brutal and captivating feature film which looks at the United States right in the eyes, denouncing the way they were able to exploit Immigrants who came to live the American dream in the 20th century.

The brutalist is a fresco which follows the journey of the Jewish architect László Toth (remarkable Adrian Brody) from the late 1940s to the 1980s. Returned from a concentration camp, he left Hungary for the United States, in the Hope to live his “American dream” too. Through his experience, director Brady Corbet denounces the way in which the United States exploits and treat brilliant brains from other countries to flourish on this legendary land of all possibilities.

Lasting 3:30 (two parts cut by a fifteen -minute intermission), The brutalist impresses with his photograph and radical choices of staging (the return to 70 mm format, which knew his golden age in the late 1950s but which remains little used for financial reasons) for a Great control, both in its form and on its words. Despite slowness and a second, less immersive than the first, Brady Corbet signs a relentless fresco that will mark the spirits. The brutalist Looks at the cinema in France on Wednesday February 12, 2025.
