Montreux Convention statement from the USA Turkey took strong steps

US Undersecretary of State Nuland made statements about Turkey’s Montreux decision and Poland’s decision to send warplanes to Ukraine in the session on Ukraine in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Stating that Putin’s installation of more weapon systems in Crimea is a cause for concern and that it threatens the free movement of ships in a large part of the Black Sea, Nuland noted that they periodically conduct US and NATO exercises to demonstrate their presence there.

“WE WORK WITH TURKEY”

Nuland said, “We are trying to keep the Black Sea open, on the other hand, we are working with Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. Since the conflict started, Turkey (in Ukraine) has taken strong steps to prevent the passage of warships under the Montreux Convention. We are working on these issues.” said.

POLAND’S MIG-29 MOVEMENT

Regarding Poland’s statement that it is ready to send MiG-29 planes to the US base in Germany “immediately and free of charge,” Nuland said, “I saw Poland’s statement on my way here. was not consulted.” used the phrase.

Nuland stated that they have been negotiating with Poland about the delivery of planes to Ukraine for the last few days, “When I return to my desk, I will consider how we will respond to Poland’s proposal to give these planes to the United States.” said.

It was claimed that Poland will give its own MiG-29s to Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, and the USA will give F-16s to Poland in return.

President of Poland Andrzej Duda stated that sending fighter jets to Ukraine would mean entering the war, and therefore announced that they would not send warplanes to Ukraine. (AA)
