Ohsweken’s Brandon Montour is bringing the Stanley Cup to Six Nations of the Grand River on Wednesday, July 24.

The 30-year-old defenseman, who recently signed a massive seven-year, $50-million contract with the Seattle Kraken, won the cup this year with the Florida Panthers.
Montour will share the Stanley Cup with the community during a parade that will extend from Ohsweken Speedway to the Six Nations Sports and Culture Memorial Arena.
During a ceremony at the arena, Montour will be given the Six Nations Honorary Ronaterihonte (Leader) Award and the cup will be on display.
“We are very proud of Brandon and his accomplishments,” said Six Nations Chief Sheri-Lyn Hill. “This celebration is historic and we’re glad Brandon is sharing this day with Six Nations.”
The festivities run from 1 pm to 4 pm A news release issued by Six Nations of the Grand River on Monday said thousands of fans are expected and the event will end at 4 pm sharp.

Before and during the event roads will be closed from 5th Line to 4th Line and Chiefswood Road, and to Lawrence Jonathan Lane. A lane will be open for emergency vehicles.
The release said guests are strongly encouraged to carpool and not park on the side of the road.
There will be food vendors at Veteran’s Park throughout the day.
Montour played in 66 games with the Florida Panthers this season, scoring eight goals and adding 25 assists. The 29-year-old defenseman helped the Panthers win the Stanley Cup
In 2022-23, Montour recorded 73 points to tie for fifth in scoring by a defenseman.
The former Brantford Golden Eagle has played 10 years in the NHL for Anaheim, Buffalo and Florida.
