Since 2016, this collective challenge returns every year and invites all those who wish to take up the challenge ofquit smoking for 30 days. Stopping aid kit, posters of encouragement, events everywhere in France, personalized application, facebook groups support or free telephone consultations with tobacco specialists… The national operation is carried out by Health Insurance in partnership with the Ministry of Solidarity and Health as well as Public Health France and the site Tobacco-Info-Service. And this year, the design of Mois sans tabac is also getting a makeover with a new graphic charter and a new slogan: “you weren’t alone when you started, you won’t be alone to stop“. What is No Tobacco Month?
The Month Without Tobacco is an annual initiative that was conceived and launched by theHealth Insurance in November 2016. This initiative is inspired by the English “Stoptober” campaign launched by Public Health England. The event, conducted in partnership with Public Health France and the Ministry of Health, is part of the National Tobacco Control Program (PNLT), more specifically in the section “Encouraging and Supporting smokers to quit”. Tobacco remains today the leading preventable cause of death in France. While there was a drop in smoking in mainland France of 1.9 million daily smokers between 2014 and 2019, the latest results of the Barometer of Public Health France, published in May 2021, show that prevalence stabilized in 2020, with 25.5% daily smokerswith no significant change compared to 2019.
Date: when is Tobacco Free Month 2022?
The Month without Tobacco will take place from Tuesday November 1, 2022 to Wednesday November 30, 2022.
Registrations for the Month Without Tobacco are open on the Tobacco Info Service platform since October 1, 2022. All you need to do is fill in your contact details. the registration page and click on “join the movement”. You will have access to a personal account. As soon as your registration is validated, you can join one of the 16 regional teams to experience this challenge with the other participants and benefit from the support of a close-knit and united community. In each region, a moderator will be responsible for leading the community, supporting and encouraging participants during this great challenge. Registering for this national operation allows you to choose the smoking cessation strategy best suited to your relationship to tobacco, your level of dependence and your lifestyle. In 2021, more than 125,000 people registered despite the context of the health crisis. The app has been downloaded over 123,000 times and over 85,000 people have signed up for the new “40 Day Program” via email.
Each participant in the Month Without Tobacco can order own stop aid kit for free from the Mois Sans Tabac website. This kit, which you will receive within 10 to 15 days, contains:

The Month Without Tobacco logo is recognizable with its colors yellow and red. In 2022, the 7th edition has the slogan “You weren’t alone when you started, you won’t be alone to stop“. Each year, the tone of the campaign aims to be benevolent, positive, guilt-free and collective: the Month Without Tobacco prefers to talk about the benefits of quitting smoking rather than the risks of smoking and is based on the spirit of team and support for non-smokers.
Who are the sponsors of the Mois sans Tabac edition?
In 2021, the Month Without Tobacco scheme was represented by three godfathers : Christophe Beaugrand-Gérin (TF1 Group), Adriana Karembeu (France Télévisions) and Stéphane Plaza (M6 Group). The 3 animators had exchanged with ex-smokers on their motivations, their tips, their fears. They encouraged smokers to sign up for Tobacco Free Month and provided concrete solutions to meet this challenge through 10 30-second TV spots.

It is possible to support one of the participants in the “Month without Tobacco” and encourage them in this process throughout the month of November. What are the benefits of quitting smoking?
Quitting smoking has effects of positives on health :
- Blood pressure, cell oxygenation and heartbeat return to normal.
