Illegal weapons will be punished more severely than before.
Montenegro plans to tighten its gun laws in the wake of a mass shooting in the country this week. Prime minister of the country Milojko Spajic told about it on Friday.
The Prime Minister said that according to the new law, especially the possession of illegal weapons will be severely punished. In addition, the authorities check all permits issued for legally owned firearms.
A total of 12 people were killed in a shooting in the village of Bajice in the southern part of the country on New Year’s Day. Two of the dead were children.
The shooting started in the restaurant and the perpetrator managed to fatally shoot the victims in a total of five places. The shooting had been preceded by a fight in the restaurant. The shooter later committed suicide.
A three-day period of mourning has been declared in Montenegro, which ends today.
