Rune has just put two smashes in the net while the point seemed to be acquired each time. The credit goes to Rublev who made his young opponent play the extra shot who clears two balls far above the stands and receives a warning. The end of the game is very tense.

At the edge of the abyss, Rublev sticks to Rune and completely revives the third set. His last kicked and very worked service squirts from the racket of Rune who cannot get out of it and sees his return escape him.

On the break point, the fourteenth of the day for Rublev, Rune takes responsibility. He serves on the opposing backhand and rushes into the court to score with his forehand in the left corner near the baseline.

Rune ranges confidently and slides a drop shot as he likes them with his backhand. Rublev is on it but when picking up the ball loses control and sends it down the hall (30-30).

The points go by too fast for Rublev who gets caught on his backhand and sends the ball into the net on Rune’s second. The 10th in the world confirms his break and stands out in a one-sided third act for the moment. Just before in this game, the latter managed a superb short backhand cross hooking the line. An acceleration that had left his opponent speechless.

While he was on the ropes despite his good intentions, Rune turned the tables and grabbed Rublev’s serve. On this last point, the Dane took control on the return. Well planted on his baseline, he pressed backhand on the opposing backhand before a forehand shift to knock out his opponent still in the same area.

Upside down since 2/2 in the second set, Rune recovered his ideas by returning to the locker room. More consistent, he withstood the opposing pressure well and took the lead in this last round with a good sequence of right neck.

On the way back, Rune totally lets go of his backhand which goes down the hall. The Dane totally self-destructed in the second half of the second set, when he had just picked up at 2/2. For his part, Rublev showed himself to be more emotionally stable and solid in the exchange to come back to the heights in this final without a common thread.
