On Pentecost Sunday, Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris and the “advertising master” Niclas M. made Buxtehude unsafe in a joint stream on Twitch. The streamer received a lot of attention from viewers for the campaign, but also criticism.
Who was the advertising master again? The 18-year-old Niclas M. suddenly became known in the spring through a report by SpiegelTV about his unusual hobby. The self-proclaimed “advertising master” had made it his mission to report illegal parking in every German community.
Through reactions from numerous Twitch streamers, an even wider audience became aware of the ad master. While some were understanding, the majority seemed to be amused or upset by the 18-year-old.
MontanaBlack issued a warning to the advertising chief: “Be careful, […] because it won’t be long before someone punches you in the face for it.”
Others, however, condemned SpiegelTV and the Twitch streamers who had presented the 18-year-old to the angry online mob – especially when the head advertiser was actually physically attacked.
After that, things became quieter for Niclas M. – until he appeared in a joint stream with MontanaBlack last Sunday, May 19, 2024.
MontanaBlack and the advertising master are making Buxtehude unsafe
What kind of stream was that? On Whit Sunday, MontanaBlack rode through Buxtehude with the advertising master on his bike. Together the two even caught one or two parking offenders.
In addition, MontanaBlack asked his guest a few questions: How does the chief advertising officer feel about his viral fame and does he have a particular preference for traffic offenses?
The joint stream is not particularly surprising, as MontanaBlack had already declared his willingness to drive around together in March. However, not all viewers were enthusiastic about the action.
After all, the Twitch streamer had previously complained about the ad master or made fun of him publicly (via X). So why a shared stream now? MontanaBlack had probably anticipated this criticism because he addressed possible comments right at the beginning of his stream.
MontanaBlack says he just wants to entertain
This is what MontanaBlack says: The streamer explains that he is willing to overlook personal differences as long as good content is created in the end. He just wants to “create entertainment on the internet.”
The Twitch streamer considers himself mature enough to provide entertainment with public figures he does not agree with, says MontanaBlack. When asked about it again later, he can only repeat himself: If a combination promises good entertainment for the viewers, he is always open to projects.
Viewers suspect other motives
Overlooking private disagreements for the sake of the fans in order to offer them a great program sounds nice at first. But not all viewers like it that way. “Nicomiklo45” writes on YouTube: “First hate, then celebrate… Some people send their mothers out into the world for clicks and money.”
Others don’t believe the streamer’s mature attitude either:
Other users complain that MontanaBlack offers a platform to a critical figure like the advertising master. Especially since Niclas M.’s mother had already asked that her son no longer be given a stage (via Focus).
Still others simply can’t believe the ad master and therefore don’t want to see him in the stream.
Was there at least content? The stream was definitely worth it for MontanaBlack. Almost 70,000 viewers watched the bike tour through Buxtehude, with 81,000 tuning in at the peak. That’s a lot even for one of the biggest streamers on German Twitch: On average, MontanaBlack reaches 30,000 to 40,000 viewers (via SullyGnome).
Even without the head of advertising, MontanaBlack is currently seen touring around on his bike more often than at his usual setup in the neon-drenched gaming basement. The streamer says that, especially now that the weather is summery, he is more drawn to the outdoors. But there is also a rather unpleasant reason why MontanaBlack does not want to stream from home at the moment.
