In Monster Hunter Wilds there will once again be the opportunity to explore the area on the back of a trusty mount. All information about features, abilities and controls can be found here in the overview at MeinMMO.

What is the Saikrii? A Saikrii (English: “Seikret”) is a new feathered monster that will be your loyal hunting companion. Like in Monster Hunter Rise with the Palamutes, you can travel on their backs or escape dangerous situations.

It is not yet known whether there will be Saikriis in the wild. In addition to their role as companions and means of transport, the mounts also bring new features and options that are intended to make your life as a monster hunter easier.

Everything about the features and capabilities

The Saikrii also comes with some new options that will support your hunter life. The following features have been confirmed for the mount so far:

transport (Manual mode) In the saddle of your Saikrii you can move freely through the open world and get from A to B quickly.

In manual mode you can control your mount yourself.

navigation (Auto Mode) Saikriis have a keen sense of smell, which allows them to automatically take you to your desired destination.

This means you can mark a point or a monster on the map and simply let it carry you there without having to steer it yourself.

Mounted combatThe new mounts will also be at your side in battle, so you can also attack from their backs.

To do this, you can either attack with your melee weapon by pressing a button or draw your ranged weapon and shoot from a distance from your Saikrii’s back.

Saddle bag with weapon holsterThe weapon holster on the saddlebag allows you to take a second weapon with you.

You can also store various items in the bag and access them while riding.

Weapon changeWhile riding, you can swap your active weapon for the weapon from the holster.

This means you can go hunting with two weapons without having to return to camp.

Using objects while ridingYou can also access the saddlebag while riding.

This is particularly practical if you let your Saikrii walk to your destination in auto mode and, for example, want to sharpen your weapon on the way.

Customizable tackThere will be different equipment sets for your mount.

You will also be able to attach trailers to the saddle.

Everything about control

Monster Hunter Wilds can be played with a controller or a keyboard. It doesn’t matter whether you have a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox controller.

You control your Saikrii with these buttons:

Controllers

Call Saikrii & ascend:

Descend / Jump off:
– [X] / [A] press to descend
– Left stick + [X] / [A]to jump in a specific direction

Auto mode:

– Alternatively, press and hold the left stick forward/up

speed:
– [R1] press to accelerate
– [R1] hold down for full speed

Braking / Drifting / Stopping:
– [R2] press to brake
– [R1] hold + [R2] hold + left stick, for drifting
– [R2] hold to hold

Riding attack (melee):
– [△] / [Y] for attack without dismounting
– [△] / [Y] + [◯] / [B] for dismount attack

Riding Attack (Ranged):
– Bring your weapon [△] / [Y]
– Put your weapon away [□] / [X]
– [L2] to aim
– [R2] to fire

Change weapon:
– [Steuerkreuz rechts] Press to switch weapons
