So far, 80 confirmed cases of monkey pox, one of which in Sweden, has been discovered. According to an expert, however, there is no major risk of a new pandemic.

-It’s not time for a pandemic again. People in general absolutely do not have to walk around and worry, says Fredrik Elgh, chief physician and professor of virology at Umeå University.

– Smallpox is not spread as easily as the coronavirus. It takes close contact to become infected, says Elgh, who explains that monkey pox is an example of a DNA virus, which is more stable than an RNA virus (which is the coronavirus).
