In Syria, fighter jets have targeted several airstrikes on the highway bridge connecting the cities of Homs and Hama, says the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an organization that follows the war in Syria.
According to the monitoring organization, the aim of the attacks is to protect the city of Homs, which is located south of the city of Hama.
On Thursday, jihadist rebel forces advanced on the city of Hama, home to around one million people. President Bashar al-Assad the pro-Syrian army admitted on Thursday afternoon that it had lost control of the city.
