No monitor in Monitor ERP Arena.
Then the referees could not double-check Herman Träff’s tackle on Theo Lindstein – so the match penalty stood.
– It is after all 2024, so that technology should have been installed, says Sanny Lindström in TV4 Play.
It was in the second period of the match between Brynäs and HV71 that the visitors’ Herman Träff made a late tackle on Theo Lindstein.
The tackle went high and the referees awarded a match penalty on the ice.
But when the referees then went out to double-check the situation, the monitor in the secretariat did not work – so the match penalty remained in any case.
– There is no monitor available, therefore the decision that we made on the ice remains, which is five + game, said the referee over the loudspeaker system.
“Wait…huh?”
A statement that confused TV4’s commentators Lasse Granqvist and Sanny Lindström.
– Wait, there is no monitor to watch in the arena? We have four, Granqvist said before Lindström filled in:
– Why on earth is there no monitor available in the arena? It is strange. After all, it is 2024, so that technology should have been installed before then.
It would appear that at the time there was some kind of error with the monitor, because when HV’s John Nyberg later during the match also went for a match penalty, the situation could be reviewed.
Brynäs finally won the match 4–3 after extra time. That after a decision from Bobby Trivigno.
