Money back if you were born in 1957 – then it will be paid out

Money back if you were born in 1957 then

The Riksdag has decided that all pensioners born in 1957 must be compensated from July 1 for not being allowed to take part in the increased basic deduction during the income year 2023.

The next increase in the age limit for the increased basic deduction will also be brought forward. This is done so that those born in 1959 are not affected in the same way.

The law enters into force on Monday 1 July.

How much money do the 57s get in compensation?

Earlier in the spring, the Tax Agency announced that a total of SEK 3.2 billion is being paid to the country’s 57. A total of 110,000 pensioners will be affected – and are now being compensated.

With a simple calculation, it can be stated that it will be around SEK 29,000 per person. According to previous information from SPF Seniors, it should be approximately SEK 28,800.

“It is excellent that mistakes have been corrected for the 57-year-olds. But the policy has not yet solved the problem that employers and self-employed people in 2023 have paid too high an employer’s contribution for people born in 1957,” said the chairman of the SPF Seniors Eva Eriksson previously said about the payouts.

No, you don’t need that. Those who are entitled to compensation will receive a separate decision from the Swedish Tax Agency stating how much they will receive in compensation.

In other words, the compensation will not appear in your declaration or in your final tax statement.

Born in 1957? Then you get your money

Anyone who calls the Tax Information Service on Monday is greeted by a message from the Swedish Tax Agency, aimed at all pensioners born in 1957.

“Are you born in 1957 and waiting for compensation? If you received your final tax statement before July 1st, you will receive the money in the first week of July, it is not possible to say exactly when. If you have not received your final tax statement, the compensation will arrive a few days after you receive it . The next big withdrawal is in August.”
