Olympic gold and world record at the Paris Olympics.
The Swedish superstar Armand “Mondo” Duplantis has landed on Swedish soil and received the cheers of the people at the Mall of Scandinavia in Solna
– I can jump higher than I did, he promises.
In front of approximately 80,000 spectators in the arena and a whole world in the TV sofas, the Swedish pole vaulter Armand “Mondo” Duplantis set a new world record and took Olympic gold in Paris.
On the last attempt he flew over 6.25. An improvement of one centimeter on his own world record, which he set last April.
In Solna, at Mall of Scandinavia, Mondo danced on stage to songs by Liamoo.
– I feel so much love and I am grateful for everyone who is here, says Duplantis.
“I can jump higher”
On stage, the Swede is asked if he thought he would make it on the last attempt.
– Yes. I knew what I needed to do to pass the bar. I don’t know how to explain it, it was simply time. There’s nothing better than doing it on the last try.
If Mondo will set more world records, he answers like this:
– I think so, I have several competitions left this year. But I haven’t exercised much in the last week to be completely honest. But you don’t lose shape in a week.
– I can jump higher than I did.
Mondo and his girlfriend Desiré Inglander have been on vacation for a week after the Olympic success.
– I have tried to relax as much as possible. But now that I’m here it’s starting to sink in.
