Mondo Duplanti’s reward for the new championship record and the huge win – that’s how much he gets for the success

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Armand Duplantis took revenge after his unexpected loss.
There was a win in the Diamond League final – and a new championship record.
It also means a big bang in the coffers.

It was a bit of a shock last weekend when Armand Duplantis, in the penultimate race of the season, lost. He broke through in 5.91 and came in a place other than first – for the first time all year.

Incredible money rain

Duplantis believed that it was necessary to lose, that he would come out of it stronger, and he was absolutely right. At Thursday’s Diamond League Grand Final, Duplantis was back in top form – and he didn’t just win the competition.

He also did it with a new championship record. Duplantis had already won the event after the competition had cleared 5.91 – but he then set the bar at 6.07, breaking a new championship record by a centimeter. Duplanti’s great success also gives a well-deserved bang in the coffers.

“Refused to grotesque sums”

According to Aftonbladet, Mondo brought in just over a million (!) on Wednesday evening. For first place alone, Duplantis collects approximately SEK 300,000. But Duplantis also receives a hefty sum just for appearing. According to his manager, it is double the amount compared to the prize money, i.e. more than SEK 600,000.

– And a little bit more. He is the biggest star today and demand has been huge this season. We have been forced to turn down competitions that offered grotesque sums, he says.

It also makes Armand Duplantis almost unique in athletics. Not many people qualify for the category of getting that amount just for applying.

– Yes, there are not many. I would guess that 90-95 percent of those who are here are just competing for prize money, says Wessfeldt.
