9:00 p.m. – The match summary: Monaco had a strong response
Stuck in a negative spiral for several weeks, the Monegasques were due to recover this Tuesday against Aston Villa for the penultimate match of the group stage of the Champions League. From the start of the match, Adi Hütter’s players demonstrated their desire to play forward and shake up the English. They are quickly rewarded. On a corner from Akliouche, Kehrer diverts but Martinez pushes back and Singo emerges to push the ball deep (1-0, 8th). Akliouche passes very close to the break but Martinez diverts at the cost of a good save (15th). It is around this point in the match that ASM will start to slow down and move back, little by little. It takes two good interventions from Majecki in front of Bailey (37th) then Watkins (45th + 3) for the score to remain 1-0.
Returning from the locker room, Rogers (47th) and Cash (59th) didn’t come close to equalizing either. A bad omen before the end of the meeting? Ultimately, no. The Monegasques leave the ball to the players from Birmingham but manage to manage the situation well while playing counterattacks. But Minamino (64th), Golovin (75th) and Embolo (76th) fail to give ASM some breathing room by scoring the second goal. Solid, Monaco held on until the final whistle to snatch a very important success. It allows the Monegasque club to be assured of playing at least in the Champions League play-offs. To do even better, we will have to make a move on the last day on the Inter pitch. A task far from easy.

With 13 points on the clock after 7 matches, Monaco provisionally rises to 9th place in the standings, even if there are still 16 matches to play between now and tomorrow. But ASM could even play for its place in the top 8 next week on the Inter pitch.

Monaco misses the break at the end of the match! The Monegasques negotiate a counter well and find Golovin on the left at the end of the line. After a good hook, the Russian strikes from a tight angle but it is into Martinez’s small outside net.
20:33 – Aston Villa: Emery makes two changes
Unai Emery makes his last two changes five minutes from the end of regulation time. Buendia and Rogers are replaced by Bogarde and Ramsey.

20:30 – Michal gets a good free kick
On a counter well launched by Teze, Michal is shifted to the left and decides to return to his right foot, but Rogers brings him down at the entrance to the area. Yellow card for the England international and a good free kick ahead for ASM.
20:27 – Majecki always impeccable
On a corner for Aston Villa, Majecki manages to catch the ball in the air and once again relieves his defense. The Polish goalkeeper is having a really good match so far.

Adi Hütter makes two changes again. Takumi Minamino and Denis Zakaria, returning from injury, are replaced respectively by Lucas Michal and Jordan Teze.
20:23 – Embolo attempts an acrobatic flip
On the corner taken by Golovin, Embolo attempts a complicated acrobatic return at the penalty spot but Martinez catches the ball easily. The Villans claim a foul from Embolo but the referee leaves the advantage.
20:22 – Golovin countered at the last moment
Perfectly launched in depth by Embolo, Golovin succeeds in his control and ball control to arrive in the area and strike. Mings diverts for a corner at the cost of a superb sliding tackle!

Well found in the area by Rogers, Matty Cash finds himself in a center-forward position but crosses his shot too far in front of Majecki and the ball finally comes out without worrying ASM.

Second change for Aston Villa. Frenchman Lucas Digne gives way to Ian Maatsen for the last 20 minutes on the left flank of the English defense.
20:12 – Monaco: Magassa and Golovin enter
Adi Hütter makes his first two changes in this match in the 65th minute. Magassa and Golovin replace Camara and Ben Seghir respectively.
20:11 – Minamino forgets Embolo!
What an opportunity for Monaco! Still found deep in the area, Minamino just has to slip it to Embolo in the middle for the second goal but the Japanese prefers to play it alone and loses the ball. The Monegasque striker is furious!
20:09 – Ben Seghir tries his luck
The Villans leave more space behind with this offensive tactical choice and this desire to equalize. Minamino takes the opportunity to escape in depth but is countered by Konsa. Ben Seghir recovers and strikes at the edge of the area but Martinez easily catches the ball.
20:06 – Aston Villa changes to 4-4-2
To try to get back into this meeting, Unei Emery has obviously decided to switch to 4-4-2 with Duran and Watkins associated in front. Rogers and Buendia occupy the sides.
20:03 – Aston Villa: Duran replaces Bailey
Unai Emery makes his first change in the 55th minute. Jhon Duran replaces Leon Bailey and it will be interesting to know if Villa will switch to 4-4-2 or if Emery will stick with his 4-2-3-1.
8:00 p.m. – No change at break
There were no changes during the half from both coaches, Adi Hütter and Unai Emery. But players from both teams are already warming up.
