French president Emmanuel Macron Today, announced the ambitious renovation plans for the Paris Louvre Art Museum. Among other things French magazine Le Monde.
The renovation plans of the art museum, which gained the reputation of the national icon, were heard after last week’s nasty news.
Louvre’s president Laurence Des Cars sent 23.1. terrestrial a letter to the Ministry of Culturewhere he said that the museum was suffering from temperature problems, water damage and decaying exhibition space.
President Macron did not, but said today the museum would go into a phasing renovation. The renovation will cost around EUR 700-800 million over ten years.
According to Macron, Louvre gets, among other things, a “new, great entrance”. Architect Ieoh ming pein Macron called the “Louvre Pyramid” glass “Pyramid” by the glass designed by Macron.
Macron held a briefing Leonardo da Vincin in front of the legendary Mona Lisa painting. According to Macron, Mona Lisa gets a new, “special space” that has a separate passage from the rest of the museum complex.
“That’s why painting will require its own ticket in the future,” Macron said.
There are other ways to draw more ticket income. In addition to the new Mona Lisa tickets, Macron said that visitors from outside the EU area will be charged more than the Union citizens in the future.
Macron promised to fund the state for only a small part of the renovation, and said the renovation would take care of the museum’s own returns and donors.
Huge number of visitors
Approximately nine million people visit Louvre each year. According to Macron, the expanded museum after the renovation could aim for up to 12 million visitors a year.
Louvre is one of the oldest and biggest art museums in the world. It includes one of the most important works of Western art from Mona Lisa to Milon Venus sculpture.
