Mona’s challenge

– I see this as a really fun challenge. I have always been curious about long runs and would like to try them out. Then I would probably have seen a long run on snow, but now that this opportunity came up, I just had to take the chance, says Brorsson to lånding.se.

The Swedish biathlete has never gone long-distance before and has at most reached six miles, that is 60 kilometers, in training before. This will be something completely different for her when the world’s best long-distance skiers are on the starting line.
– No, this is something completely new for me. I haven’t run longer than six miles in training, so it will be exciting to see how the body reacts, and how I can hold on when I start to get tired, admits the national team skater.

Significant for long races is precisely the stake and it will be the big challenge in terms of riding for Brorsson. But she now admits that she still does quite a lot of pole training.
– Yes, but it is quite a lot. Then, in that case, a lot for us is not a lot compared to a long-distance skier. But the stance and upper body strength are keys to getting the skating technique right. And this, not least now that we are approaching winter, it becomes more and more specific strength. Otherwise, there will be a lot of strength training in the gym, but during this period we are increasingly trying to implement strength training in the cardio training. And I have always liked pole training, says Brorsson in the interview and continues:
– I see this race as a good supplement in training. It will be fun to see if and how long I can keep up. And you can always get good tips from seeing the technology of those you ride with. So I hope for an educational day, and that the body responds as I want, says Brorsson.
