Petter Northug visits “Superstars” as a gladiator in tonight’s episode and challenges the participants in roller skis and cross -country skiing.
Mona Brorsson tells the Sports Bible what it was like to meet the Norwegian Fysmonstret.
– He has been and is still an athlete that is extremely driven, she says.
Between 2009 and 2015 were Petter Northug39, the world by far the best cross -country skier. He won three World Cup golds in Liberec in 2009, took four (!) Olympic medals the following year and continued to be dominant in the 2011 World Cup in Holmenkollen, 2013 in Val Di Fiemme and in Falun 2015.

The Norwegian actually ended his career in 2018, but three years ago he chose to wear the skis again to invest in long races. He has aimed to get the top 10 at Vasaloppet, but this year there was no race due to injury benefits. He also made an attempt to qualify for the World Cup in cross -country skiing at home in Trondheim, but he was never really close to succeeding.

Instead, he shows up as a “gladiator” in the Swedish competition program “Superstars” which is shown on Channel 5 on Mondays. He then challenges the participants (Mona BrorssonThe Mikael LustigThe Maria AkrakaThe Lisa DahlkvistThe Joel Lundqvist and Sverre Liliequist) in his own sport. On the one hand, they meet him in a roller skiing competition and on the other, they get to compete in cross -country skiing in which he is recognized.
For former biathlon Mona Brorsson, now SVT expert in the Winter Studio, it was particularly interesting to meet Northug. In the program he says he is in control of her because he also acted a little biathlon expert on Norwegian TV2, but they do not know each other before.
– It was very unaware. Then it gets a little like this … We have lived and worked a little in the same world. I think both felt a little bit that you know each other. Although you did not. But we also had very exciting conversations about training and research on training and high -altitude training and all that. Super -exciting!, She tells the Sports Bible.

Above all, she liked being able to talk a little longer and more detailed with him about his incredibly successful career. Both she and the other participants thought it was interesting.
