Mona Brorsson’s big setback before the last competitions of her career – honest words before the emotional end: “Extremely bad timing”

Mona Brorsson has the last competitions of her career ahead of her.
But before the farewell, she has suffered a major setback.
– It’s really boring timing, she tells P4 Värmland.

It was during the Biathlon World Cup that Mona Brorsson, the great veteran of the national team, announced that this season will be her last. Brorsson has always been hailed as the perfect teammate by stars like Hanna and Elvira Öberg, and when she came out with the news, several of the Swedish stars were in tears.

The setback before the farewell

Mona Brorsson has rarely been the one who won the most competitions or took the most podium places. Most of the headlines have instead ended up on the likes of the Öberg sisters. But Brorsson has always done a great deal quietly, and has always had an ability to be the very best when it comes to relays. Brorsson has taken a total of two podiums during his career, which ends this weekend.

The World Cup now continues in Canada over the weekend, and after that, Brorsson’s career is over. But before the competitions, she has, unfortunately, suffered a serious setback – in the form of a cold.

– It’s really boring timing, you might say. It feels better today, and I still have a day left, so anything is possible, says Brorsson to P4 Värmland.

“It feels surreal”

However, Mona Brorsson believes that it will take a lot if she is to miss her last competitions in her career.

– It will take something extreme for me not to stand on this starting line, I feel very confident that I will compete, she says.

Mona Brorsson believes that she has a lot of energy to take out, and even if the feeling that she is ending her career is now beginning to sink in.

– You really want to run your last races and get everything you have. The end itself doesn’t feel strange at all, it’s about time, but it’s starting to become a little surreal to imagine an everyday life without this life.
