Mona Brorsson moves to Stockholm because her partner got a job

Mona Brorsson is a new biathlon expert in SVT’s “Vinterstudion”.
She has also moved from Östersund to Stockholm with her love Gustav. She is ready for a new phase in life.
– If there’s ever a time we’re going to try Stockholm, it’s now, she tells NWT.

She made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup in the 2012/2013 season. Two years later the Värmland native became Mona Brorsson34, selected in the national team and received the icon Wolfgang Pichler as a trainer. During her career, she took part in a total of eight world championships and won a medal – in addition, she won a gold and a silver in the Olympics.

Makes debut in “Vinterstudion”

After last season, which was also her best ever in the World Cup, Mona Brorsson chose to end her career. Instead, she took the step over to sit as an expert on television. When the ex-biathlon Helena Ekholm was to be replaced in “Vinterstudion”, there were several who thought that Mona felt suited for the role. She herself was keen on it too.

She has already tried broadcasting with Expressen TV when it was the Roller Ski Shooting Championship. Soon it will be time for the premiere of SVT’s classic “Vinterstudion”. An audience of millions awaits there weekend after weekend, which can make anyone feel nervous.

– I also gain more respect for the profession. It’s easy to sit at home and think how they can miss things, but there is an incredible amount of timing and interaction. I am humble about the fact that I will make mistakes, say weird things and that it will take some time before I get completely warm in my clothes. But I feel it will be great fun, she tells Värmland’s NWT.

First out of the ten competition weeks in the World Cup is the one in Kontiolahti, November 30–December 8. But Mona is already there when SVT broadcasts the Swedish premiere in Idre on November 15–17.

Lives in an apartment hotel

It’s not just the transition from active skier to professional television commentator that awaits Mona Brorsson. She has put life in Östersund behind her completely. The move has been to Stockholm, almost 60 miles south, together with the boyfriend Gustav Larsson. He was previously a fencer in the national biathlon team, but has now got a new job in the capital.

– Right now we have a very temporary solution and live in an apartment hotel, but are obviously looking for something. Actually, it is Gustav, the partner, who has got a job. It’s not primarily for the “Winter studio”, although it makes things a lot easier, she says.

They felt done with Jämtland and both wanted to try something new. Then it became natural with Stockholm, because both could get jobs there. In the future, they don’t know where they will live – Mona hints that she might be keen to move home to Värmland – but at the moment they are really keen to test big city life.

– We felt last spring when I finished biathlon that both are done with skiing, at least the performance part. We had lived in Östersund for a long time. If there’s ever a time we’re going to try Stockholm, it’s now, she says.

Good luck in Stockholm with your new jobs, Mona and Gustav. It will be so exciting to follow you as a biathlon expert in SVT. You certainly have lots of knowledge and stories to share.
