Extreme weather has hit the US West Coast with storms and heavy flooding. Lindsy Doan was on her way to preschool in San Miguel, California with her five-year-old son Kyle when the road was flooded. When the car began to take on water, she tried to get out of the vehicle with Kyle.
– I saw his head sort of float away and he looked at me because he was going backwards. I tried to keep my head above the surface of the water, but the currents kept pulling me down. After a while I couldn’t see Kyle, says mother Lindsy Doan.
– He had the backpack with him, I told him to leave it. I don’t care about the backpack, I just want you to come to me, says Lindsy Doan.
The current pulled him
Lindsy Doan thinks over and over about that terrible moment in the car.
– He came to me and I grabbed him. But the current pulled Kyle and our hands lost their grip.
Over 100 people have taken part in the search for missing five-year-old Kyle, who disappeared in the waters on Monday. But so far without results.
At home, his parents and two siblings are waiting to at least find out what happened.
