60 women have come forward against Harrods owner • “Beginning to question memory”
Recently, a documentary was published on the BBC in which the billionaire and former Harrods owner Mohamed al-Fayed was accused of raping several women who worked at the well-known department store.
Since then, more and more women have come forward and testified about both rape and other sexual abuse.
“The response has been overwhelming… and we can confirm that we now represent 60 survivors as part of our claim, with more to come,” the women’s legal representatives said in a statement.
The son: “Beginning to question the memory”
Now al-Fayed’s son Omar is stepping forward and saying he is “appalled and deeply concerned” by the allegations against his father, who died aged 94 last August.
“The scale and explicit nature of the allegations are shocking and I have begun to question the loving memory I have of him,” he says, according to Sky News.
The charges against Mohamed al-Fayed include five counts of rape and several counts of sexual assault.
“How this information has been kept secret for so long and in so many ways raises further questions,” he continues.
