Mods have been improving Bethesda’s games for years, and Fallout 4 is now taking it to the extreme

It’s no secret that mods tend to make Bethesda’s games even better. However, with the current next-gen update, many of the mods no longer work. It didn’t take long for the community to find a solution to this.

What is the problem? The next-gen update for Fallout 4 has been online since April 25th. Nine years after its release, Bethesda has made further improvements, including making the game look nicer.

Unfortunately, there is a big problem. Most mods from the community no longer work because of the update. This causes a lot of annoyance for players who previously had to use complicated ways to get around the update.

But the mod community never sleeps and that’s why it didn’t take long before a convenient solution to the problem emerged.

The answer to broken mods is more mods

What is the solution? It’s ironic that fans once again have to come to the rescue themselves. Evil tongues say that Bethesda’s games only become playable through mods. In this case it is like that again.

Mods have now appeared that ensure that the new update from Bethesda is removed again. You can’t just do this on Steam etc., you need help from the community.

On Nexus Mods, the mod portal par excellence, the two most popular and therefore most frequently downloaded files revolve around the current problem. One of them is called the “Steam Skip Next Gen Update”. This mod causes Steam to think the update is already installed.

A second extension called “Fallout 4 Downgrader” resets the game to the previous version if the update has already been downloaded.

How does it go from here? Since the release of Amazon’s Fallout series, the entire series has experienced a major upswing. All spin-offs were played more and were more popular than ever before.

The mod community has improved Fallout 4 over the years and added cool and creative additions. The anger over the sudden incompatibility is understandable.

On the other hand, it would be almost impossible for Bethesda to be sure before the update whether all available mods will be compatible with it. It remains to be seen how the studio will handle the situation.

And it remains to be seen whether players will remain loyal to the game in the coming weeks and months. At least old mods can be used again with the currently most popular fixes. MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus would recommend another game in the series.
