– She is perhaps the clearest symbol of society’s way of meeting the gays’ fight for rights when it is at its best, says Christofer Fjellner (M), group leader in Stockholm city.
The former Member of Parliament Barbro Westerholm (L) passed away in March earlier this year, aged 89. Westerholm devoted most of his life to LGBTQ+ rights. Among other things, she contributed to homosexuality no longer being labeled a disease – an event Fjellner (M) took note of in his motion for a monument to honor her fight.
