The space MMORPG EVE Online is notorious for space wars that demanded a lot of time and resources from the players. Now the developers blew up a complete star and started a new story line that calls the previously rather quiet NPC factions onto the scene.
What’s going on at EVE Online?
We include the trailer for the new EVE expansion Uprising here:
EVE Online: NPC factions wage war on lowsecs
The usual wars in EVE Online are actually the direct result of player actions. It’s about valuable booty, huge territories as well as envy and greed. Again and again we hear about the wildest atrocities that players do to themselves in EVE Online:
But with the latest expansion Uprising that changes a bit. The NPC factions are now fighting in the areas known as “Lowsec”. There are rules here, but they are not always enforced.
Player battles usually take place in “zero sec” areas – there are no rules at all here.
After the destruction of the star in the Turnur system, the NPC factions are now fighting each other and players can join this war. Solo players can join one of the 4 factions and help conquer or defend the territories involved.
A new Faction Warfare menu has been created for this. Here you can also see the condition of a system – if it is at the front, it can be taken. If it is further into a faction’s territory, pirate raids or attacks on the logistical infrastructure are possible.
There were also some adjustments besides the big faction war:
The expansion brings new impetus to the space MMORPG and there is really something going on in the rather quiet lowsec sectors. The consequences are currently not foreseeable, the war between the NPCs is new.
But as EVE Online has been doing for the past few years, there’s still some crazy stuff being filmed that leaves many gamers shaking their heads in amazement.
