The summer event is currently running in Black Desert Online, which will take place until August 24th. In addition to all sorts of the usual MMORPG event stuff, you can also be an otter and fight for your sandcastle. We at MeinMMO summarize.
What is this event? The summer event has been running in the MMORPG Black Desert Online since August 3rd. This brings with it some weekly quests and rewards, but also a whole new game mode where you can be an otter.
The game mode is called Sand Castle Shore-Down and focuses on PvP. Up for grabs are some rewards to earn and also a daily quest to complete. By the way, both sides get loot, but the winners get more.
What game mode is this? While the PvP mode is cute on the outside, it’s basically a regular deathmatch. You either take on the role of an otter or that of a papus. The Papu are also quite cute little animals that come from the Black Desert cosmos.
You choose one of three classes, corresponding to a warrior, a healer and a magician. They also have really funny names. So the otter healer is obviously the “Holy Sea Cucumber Priest”.
Ultimately, you play in groups of 30 players for kills. The more fluffy opponents you cuddle to death, the more points you get for your team. Whoever has the most points after 10 minutes gets victory for their faction.

The fight for the sandcastles
The Great Battle of the Otters: While the first game mode only relates to a deathmatch, the second mode, “Clash of the Furrsome Papus and Otters”, also has proper territory battles. You can choose a side and then receive scrolls to transform you into Papu or Otter.
Every 15 minutes there is a fight at the sandcastle, where you have to fight for 5 different areas and drive the other team out of there. If this is successful, your fluffy army will take control of the area.
After 15 minutes, the team that held longer, more regions wins. The loser then has to wait another 5 minutes on the battlefield to “reflect on their defeat”.
New quests: These events are accompanied by corresponding daily and weekly tasks. You not only have to conquer sandcastles, but also knock down Papus and otters. You will then receive event tokens that you can exchange for rewards.
All this is possible and playable until August 24th. So get to the fish!
“This is the future of PvP”
How is the community reacting? They immediately fell in love with the cute otters and papus. Player reactions are great and they look forward to going into the cuddly war and defending and conquering their sandcastles.
One looks in vain for negative comments at the moment, the update and the event seem to be well received. The only criticism is that otters get different rewards than papus. The Papus focus more on fighting, as Otter there is life skill loot. It is feared that fewer players could choose the Otters.
