MMORPG accidentally brings back 14 year old exploit, even has to go offline

This week, Old School RuneScape had a curious bug that could cause the client to crash with just one word. There was also a lot of news about WoW and a detailed presentation of Palia, the social MMO.

The highlights of the week:

The excitement of the week: The reinforcement caller in WoW is too strong. With a special tactic, the damage of a death knight in the raid has been increased to 13 million DPS. The group defeated such a boss in 24 seconds instead of 2 minutes.

The discussion of the week: Ember Sword is selling properties in the game for up to 145,000 euros before the release. In return, you should be able to control it and even earn real money. What do you think of this type of monetization?

New information about the GW2 expansion and Ultima Online 2

This is what happened in the big MMORPGs:

  • While the Rufer is currently too strong, the Holy Paladin has been heavily nerfed, but many players are perfectly fine with that. One player also made headlines for having collected more than 1,000 different mounts. Our WoW demon Cortyn also reported on the return of a popular character that many overlooked in the new patch.
  • ESO is available for free until July 27 if you grab it from the Epic Store. The MMORPG just celebrated its release there. In addition, Quake Com will take place in Texas from August 10th to 13th, where ESO will also be present and will host a live stream (via ESO).
  • The Festival of the Four Winds kicked off in Guild Wars 2 this week. There was also a new blog post about the Relics, a new piece of gear in the upcoming expansion (via GW2). You can find everything about Secrets of the Obscure here: Guild Wars 2 is getting a new expansion in August – Bringing the area I’ve been dreaming of for 18 years.
  • New events have been added to Black Desert, including the introduction of “Fantastic Horse Doom” (via BDO).
  • The new patch 6.45 was released in Final Fantasy XIV on July 18th. This brought a new dungeon, new content for the blue mage and new side quests (via FFXIV). We also reported on a streamer that in the middle of a raid, Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, stopped by in person.
