In November, an Irish civil court convicted MMA fighter Conor McGregor of raping a woman in a hotel room in 2018.
Now the Irishman has been sued for yet another sexual assault. During Tuesday, a lawsuit was filed in a court in Florida. In it, McGregor is accused of an assault in June 2023.
Staff are also accused
The assault allegedly took place in a toilet inside the Kaseya Center, which is the home arena of the NBA team Miami Heat, after a 2023 NBA Finals.
The lawsuit, submitted by the woman who is said to have been the victim of the crime, is also directed against staff at the arena. The woman accuses them of being guilty of gross negligence.
McGregor denies
A police report was filed against McGregor for the same crime back in June 2023, but the prosecutor chose during the same fall not to proceed with the case.
“My client, after long and careful consideration, has decided to move forward with this civil case, fearing that it may affect her job on Wall Street,” her attorney Jim Dunn said in a statement to ESPNand continues:
“But her main purpose with this lawsuit is to draw attention to sexual abuse and encourage others to report such cases.”
One of the best of all time
McGregor claims the allegations are false.
“We are convinced that this case will also be dismissed”, writes his lawyer Barbara Llanes.
36-year-old McGregor is considered one of the absolute best MMA fighters of all time, and in 2016 became the first ever to hold championship belts in two different weight classes at the same time. His last match was in July 2021, but he had planned a comeback in February this year, a match that will not happen.
