Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Alex Pereira, who has since moved up to light heavyweight where he won the belt, wants to move down to the lower weight category. In a message with a photo posted on Instagram on August 18, the Brazilian fighter leaves no doubt. In the photo, he appears next to a television where we see Dricus du Plessis celebrating his victory against Israel Adesanya. And Pereira writes: “I’m going back down to 185 (pounds, or 84 kilos, the maximum weight in the middleweight category, editor’s note) once again.” Du Plessis, the current middleweight champion, responded to him at a press conference. The South African mocked “Poatan” and his plans to challenge him for the belt, referring to his KO loss and middleweight title loss to Israel Adesanya in April 2023: “If he left you stiff like that, you don’t want to fight me. You better stay in your division.”
