Now it has emerged that the injury requires surgery and that the 18-year-old’s anterior cruciate ligament is severed.
“Operation will take place next week and then a 9-12 month rehabilitation awaits before a full return to football is possible,” says rehab manager Amanda Nilsson to the club’s website.
Silas Nwankwo joined Mjällby last winter. He also became the club’s top scorer during the season with nine goals in 28 games.
