Mitton Village Block Party rocks Sarnia

Mitton Village Block Party rocks Sarnia

The weather and the turnout were both good as the Mitton Village Block Party event returned Saturday to the revitalized Sarnia neighborhood.

Mitton Street was open for pedestrians only to let a grassroots group holds its annual get-together. Eleven acts took to a nearby stage while vendors lined the street between Davis Street and Kathleen Avenue. There were also children’s activities, including a large inflatable slide, and a cooling-off area popular during the warm afternoon.

In its first year, the community party aimed at instilling pride and breathing life into the downtown-adjacent neighborhood drew maybe 500 people, officials have said, but attendance had grown to somewhere around 3,000 by 2021.
