(Finance) – Il Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport accelerates the adaptation works of the Great Saint Bernard Tunnel. The deputy minister Edoardo Rixi chaired an operational meeting in the presence of representatives of the concessionary company, the Valle D’Aosta Region and our Ambassador in Bern, Gian Lorenzo Cornadoin which an agreement was reached between MIT and SITGSB to quickly start the safety works of the tunnel.
The agreement will make it possible to meet the requests of all interested parties, starting from the Valle D’Aosta Region, with respect to the primary need to ensure transport connectivity between Italy and Switzerland at a particularly delicate moment for the situation of the Alpine passes . MIT provided the necessary reassurances to guarantee the continuation of the works to adapt the structure and is waiting to know the actions that the concessionaire company will activate to ensure the regular continuation of the works.
