Three school authorities are tasked with preventing criminals from establishing themselves in the school system and preventing government grants for education from being used for other purposes.
“Time and time again, we have seen that actors in the welfare sector have used state and municipal funds in a criminal manner. It is serious, unacceptable and does not belong in the world of schools,” comments Education Minister Lotta Edholm (L) in a press release.
The School Inspectorate must therefore strengthen the supervision of and permit review for independent schools, while the Swedish National Agency for Education must report what opportunities they have to stop incorrect grant payments. The Special Education School Authority receives the same tasks as the Norwegian School Board.
