Police found a firearm reported missing after an intrusion onto a West Elgin property, but are still looking for a trespassing suspect.

The OPP and Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a break and enter at an address on Talbot Line in West Elgin about 8 am Friday, provincial police said.

The property owner noticed damage to a door of an outbuilding and was confronted by an individual trespassing on the property, the OPP said.
While a firearm reported missing by the property owner was located by police during an evidence search, OPP said the individual fled before police arrived.
Police searched the property and surrounding area but did note locate the intruder, the OPP said. The suspect is described as a 20-year-old white man with a slim build who was wearing jogging pants and a reflective construction jacket or vest.
