The Middle East is experiencing the hottest period in recent years. Tensions are rising after the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Dozens of rockets were launched from southern Lebanon towards Israel. Israeli air defense systems were seen to destroy the rockets. The interceptor rockets left light trails in the air and sparks were scattered around as a result of the explosions.
MISSILE ATTACK WAS MADE
The Israeli army fired flares into the border area at least twice during the night.
According to a written statement from the Israeli army, the vast majority of the dozens of rockets fired from southern Lebanon were intercepted.
Israel, which has been continuing its attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, is also clashing with Lebanese Hezbollah on its northern border. High military tensions on the border line between Israel and Lebanon, referred to as the “Blue Line,” have risen to record levels.
Following the killing of Hezbollah’s top commander Fuad Shukur in an airstrike in Beirut and the assassination of Hamas’s political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the Tel Aviv administration stated that it “expected a strong response” from Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Iran. (AA)
