Demi Vollering attacked just below the top of the Urruztigaina, the toughest climb of the day, just under 40 kilometers before the finish. In the descent, the Dutch champion was joined by two Swiss riders: her teammate Marlen Reusser and Elise Chabbey. Not much later, a group including Pauliena Rooijakkers joined. The eight were unable to maintain their lead at the front, after which Labous attacked first and Bredewold and García joined not much later.
