Minor flooding expected: conservation authority

Minor flooding expected conservation authority

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority is warning people to stay away from shorelines, watercourses and flooded areas as minor flooding is expected amid warm temperatures and rain in the coming days.

Minor flooding is expected in natural floodplain areas, parks and fields as unseasonably warm temperatures melt the accumulated snow while rain is expected Friday and Saturday, conservation authority officials said in a watershed conditions statement Thursday.

The message remains in effect until Jan. 3 unless otherwise updated, it added, while noting children and pets should be kept away from the water.

“The conservation authority continues to monitor watershed conditions and will issue advisories to municipalities and media should flood issues arise,” it says.
