Ministry of Health’s statement on West Nile Virus: “It was detected in 6 people in our country in 2024”

While the Monkeypox virus, which has been causing concern in the world in recent days, is waiting, the West Nile virus, which was first seen in Turkey in 2010 and last caused an epidemic in 2019, has started to be seen again. The Ministry of Health also made a statement about the virus, which is transmitted by “Culex” type mosquitoes and causes West Nile fever.

“6 PEOPLE WERE DETECTED”

In a statement made on the ministry’s social media account, it was stated that the disease is generally seasonal and is seen throughout the summer and early autumn, and that the disease is not directly transmitted from person to person.

The statement noted the following:
“West Nile Virus Infection, which has been seen in our country since 2010, was detected in 6 people in 2024. The follow-up and treatment of our patients continue. Necessary studies are being carried out by our Ministry and the process is being followed meticulously. Current developments will be presented to the public.”
