Ministry of Health warns about skin cancer: If you have these symptoms, consult a doctor! Watch out for moles that appear after the age of 25

Ministry of Health warns about skin cancer If you have

According to information received from ministry officials, skin cancers are seen in three main types: “basal cell carcinoma (BCC)”, “squamous cell carcinoma (SHK)” and “melanoma”.

BHK and SHK, the most common types of skin cancer, usually occur in areas exposed to the sun. Melanoma is known as the most dangerous type of skin cancer.

Stating that there may be an increase in skin cancers in recent years due to the influence of deteriorating environmental factors, authorities point out that early diagnosis is of vital importance in skin cancer and recommend that citizens develop the habit of checking their skin regularly.

If you notice new spots on your skin, changes in existing freckles or moles, you should consult a doctor. Authorities say that moles on your body are generally harmless and recommend that you consult a doctor if one of these moles looks different or if a new mole appears after the age of 25.

PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN TO PREVENT SKIN CANCER

Ministry officials listed the precautions that should be taken to protect against skin cancer as follows:

“Reduce sun exposure time. Avoid being outside between 11.00-15.00, when the sun is intense. Apply sunscreen cream to exposed skin areas 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every 2-3 hours. Wear tightly woven clothing, wide-brimmed hats and UV rays. “Protect your skin by using protective glasses. Shade is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself from the sun.”
