The official statement on this subject is as follows: happened: “As a result of different operations carried out by the Ministry of Trade, Customs Enforcement, Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate units throughout the country within the scope of an investigation carried out by the Hopa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, 50 luxury vehicles worth approximately 540 million Turkish Liras were seized. As a result of the risk analysis studies and controls carried out meticulously by the Customs Enforcement units, especially at the Sarp, Kapıkule and İpsala Customs Gates, a detailed investigation was initiated by making inquiries from the Ministry’s systems regarding suspicious persons and vehicles. As a result of the interrogations, it was determined that the luxury vehicles brought to the country temporarily within the scope of touristic conveniences were left in the country, and the relevant persons went abroad without a vehicle without giving a letter of undertaking. In addition, it was determined that some people tried to illegally benefit from the convenience by pretending that the necessary conditions were met in order to bring vehicles within the scope of temporary import exemption.

In this regard, a total of 50 luxury vehicles worth approximately 540 million Turkish Liras, which were brought to the country by abusing the temporary import regime and used illegally in 11 different provinces, were seized. The investigation initiated against the suspicious persons regarding the incident continues before the Hopa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. “Customs Enforcement units continue their fight against all kinds of illegal activities, especially vehicles and suspects who have entered the country with false documents, threatening public welfare and the country’s economy through tax evasion.”
