Ministry of Commerce: “We broke the export record in 2023”

Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Commerceannounced, “We Broke the Export Record of Our Republic’s History in 2023.”

The official statement on this subject is as follows: happened: “As the Ministry of Commerce, we broke a record in the last twenty-two years by increasing our exports, which are the backbone of our economy, to a total of 255.8 billion dollars of goods exports in the 100th year of our Republic, together with our exporters reaching 139,830. Thus, we increased our share of global exports from 0.55% in 2002 and 1.02% in 2022 to 1.06% by the end of September 2023. As the Ministry of Commerce, we broke a record by increasing our exports to 255.8 billion dollars in the 100th anniversary of our Republic, with our exporters reaching 139,830. We also see the details of this success we have achieved in exports in the figures. The number of exporting companies, which was 31,855 in 2002, increased by 339% to 139,830 in 2023. In addition, the number of companies exporting for the first time in 2023 was 38 thousand 574, while the contribution of these companies to total exports was 6.6 billion dollars.

Countries and Country Blocks We Export to:

In 2023, we delivered 12,886 of our products to more than 240 countries/customs regions. We achieved the highest exports in history to 70 of these countries. World imports of our most important commercial partner, the European Union member states (EU-27), decreased by 16.1% in the January-November 2023 period. On the other hand, our country’s exports to the EU-27 increased by 1.2% compared to last year, reaching 104.3 billion dollars in 2023. Our exports to the Near and Middle East region, where our commercial and economic relations have increased recently, increased by 2.2% to 46.2 billion dollars.

Our exports to the Turkish Republics broke a historical record, reaching 10.2 billion dollars with an increase of 26.9% in 2023. Our exports to the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) (57 countries) broke a new record by reaching 67.3 billion dollars with an increase of 3.68% in 2023.

Product Groups in Our Exports:

In 2023, our manufacturing industry exports rose to the highest value with 241 billion dollars and took a 94.2% share of total exports. The share of our medium, high and high technology product exports increased to 40.3%. Aircraft and their parts, medicines, immune products, video recorders and photovoltaic cells stand out as the high-tech products we export the most. The number of sections with exports exceeding 1 billion dollars reached 54 in 2023, and the highest exports in history were made in 39 sections. In 2023, over 1 billion dollars were exported to 49 countries. 30 of our provinces have reached an export figure of over 1 billion dollars.

We Are Taking Confident Steps to Achieve 267 Billion Dollars of Goods Export Volume, Which is Our Target in the Medium-Term Program

When we look at the global exports of our export products;

-First in the world in rebar, raw/block/semi-processed marble-travertine, cement exports,

-First in the world in hazelnut, flour, refined sunflower oil, raisins, dried apricots, dried figs, unshelled pistachios and bulgur exports, First in Europe in home textile exports, • Second in the world in carpet exports,

-Fourth in the world in exports of buses, midibuses and minibuses, electric ovens, dishwashers and washing machines, Fifth in the world in exports of refrigerators and freezers, small electrical household appliances, Seventh in the world in total exports of textiles and ready-made clothing,

-We rank eighth in the world in truck, pickup truck and pick-up exports. “With our effective policies and strategies to increase our exports to higher levels, we continue our efforts in 2024 to reach our 2024 MTP target of 267 billion dollars in goods export volume.”
